Day 1

When you arrive in Quito we’ll be waiting to accompany you to your accommodation in the heart of the city.

Day 2

Your day begins with explorations of the vibrant city of Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its well-preserved colonial architecture and cobblestone streets. You’ll cover the key landmarks such as Plaza de la Independencia, La Compañia de Jesus, and the Basilica del Voto Nacional, complete with its 24 chapels and crypts housing several former presidents. Your city tour will conclude with a panoramic view from El Panecillo Hill, overlooking the city, before continuing to the north to the Middle of the World monument, where French scientists determined the shape of the planet. You’ll also visit the nearby Intiñan Museum, where you can engage in fascinating experiments which demonstrate the effects of being on the equator.

Day 3

Nestled in the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean, approximately 1,000 kilometers off the coast of Ecuador, lie the enigmatic Galapagos Islands, a mesmerizing archipelago steeped in natural wonders and scientific significance. These volcanic jewels serve as a living laboratory of evolution, forever etched in history as the birthplace of Charles Darwin’s groundbreaking theory.
 
Amidst this biological wonderland lies a kaleidoscope of habitats teeming with life and a myriad of species found nowhere else on Earth. From the iconic Galapagos giant tortoises to the otherworldly marine iguanas, from the endearing Galapagos penguins to the comical blue-footed boobies, the Galapagos offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse oneself in nature’s grandeur.
 
Upon touching down on Baltra Island, your Galapagos adventure begins with a scenic journey that promises excitement and discovery at every turn. You’ll be taken to the charming town of Puerto Ayora, the bustling hub of Galapagos activity. Along the way, a stop at a Highlands Reserve offers an opportunity to witness the majestic Galapagos giant tortoises in their natural habitat. Meandering through this pristine wilderness, you’ll marvel at these gentle giants as they roam freely amidst the lush vegetation, a testament to the enduring beauty of the Galapagos. A stroll through ancient lava tunnels offers a glimpse into the geological history of the islands, as you navigate through these natural marvels carved by the forces of nature.
 
After lunch we take a visit to the renowned Charles Darwin Station beckons, offering insight into the vital conservation efforts underway to preserve the unique biodiversity of the Galapagos. Witness firsthand the efforts to protect and preserve the islands’ iconic inhabitants, as you observe tortoises of different subspecies being prepared for reintroduction into their natural habitats. It’s a poignant reminder of the importance of conservation in ensuring the long-term survival of the Galapagos and its precious inhabitants.

Day 4

Today embark on a thrilling journey to North Seymour Island, a haven of natural wonders teeming with life and excitement. After a 40-minute bus ride, you’ll step aboard a comfortable passenger boat, for a leisurely 40-minute journey to North Seymour.
 
Led by a knowledgeable bilingual guide, you’ll trek along a 2.5 km trail, immersed in the bustling activity of the island’s largest breeding colonies where Blue-footed boobies, Magnificent and Great frigate birds, and swallow-tailed gulls abound. Keep your eyes peeled for other fascinating inhabitants, including sea lions, Galapagos land iguanas, marine iguanas, lava lizards, and pelicans, as they go about their daily routines amidst the stunning backdrop of the island’s rugged terrain.
 
Retreat to the comfort of the boat for a delectable hot lunch and refreshing beverages before setting sail for Las Bachas Beach on the northern coast of Santa Cruz Island. Here, you’ll have the option to indulge in snorkeling adventures amidst colorful fish, graceful rays, and benign Whitetip sharks. Alternatively, take a leisurely stroll along the pristine beach, soaking in the sun-drenched vistas and serenity of the natural surroundings.
 
As the day draws to a close, return to the Baltra Channel aboard the boat, where a waiting bus will transport you back to your hotel.

Day 5

Our destination today is Bartolome Island, a paradise brimming with natural wonders and breathtaking landscapes. A 40-minute bus ride precedes a two-hour boat journey to Bartolome, during which you may enjoy a hearty hot breakfast.
 
Upon arrival, prepare for an exhilarating 40-minute walk to the summit, rising 114 meters above sea level. The panoramic views from the summit are simply breathtaking, offering the perfect backdrop photos amidst the dramatic landscapes. You’ll then traverse through a lunar-like lava landscape, following a wooden boardwalk designed to protect both visitors and the delicate ecosystem.
 
After the invigorating hike, return to the comfort of the boat for a delicious lunch, before donning your snorkeling gear to explore a secluded sandy cove. Here you’ll have the opportunity to swim alongside the speedy Galapagos penguins and encounter a myriad of colorful reef fish, green sea turtles, and rays.
 
For an up-close encounter with the elusive penguins, embark on a ride in a panga, a small boat that will take you within a few meters of these fascinating creatures, seemingly unfazed by your presence. A light snack will be provided as you journey back to the Baltra Channel, where a bus will return you to your hotel.

Day 6

Get ready for an exhilarating start to your day as we take an inter-island flight, soaring high above the Galapagos archipelago for approximately 40 minutes, providing captivating aerial views of the stunning landscapes below.
 
Upon your arrival on Isabela, your experienced guide will be ready to usher you into the wonders of the largest island. In the afternoon, we’ll set off for an exploration of Las Tintoreras, a small island that lies across Isabela Island’s harbor. A short boat trip across the tranquil waters passing resting pelicans, will bring us to this hidden gem, renowned for its outstanding snorkeling opportunities and stunning natural beauty.
 
Walking the bizarre lava landscape, you’ll have the chance to see huge colonies of marine iguanas basking in the sun. Playful sea lions and whitetip reef sharks call these shores home. The real magic lies in the panoramic views that unfold around us. From the treacherous black lava fields to the emerald-green sea, framed by the striking backdrop of Isabela’s cloud-capped volcanoes.

Day 7

Our journey continues with an exploration of one of the Galapagos’ most remarkable natural wonders. You’ll set out to discover the awe-inspiring Sierra Negra volcano and its unique sulfur mines, finding yourself in the raw power of nature.
 
You’ll embark on a fascinating hike along the Sierra Negra Sulfur Mines Trail, where the rich natural beauty of the Galapagos unfolds before your eyes. As you trek through the volcanic terrain, you’ll encounter remnants of past volcanic activity and marvel at the unique formations and vibrant colors that define the magnificent Sierra Negra. This active volcano boasts one of the largest calderas in the world, offering unparalleled panoramic vistas.
 
Upon reaching the sulfur mines, you’ll delve into the intriguing world of volcanic minerals, gaining insights into the extraction processes, the importance of sulfur in various industries, and the ecological impact of volcanic activity on the surrounding environment.
 
After an enriching visit to the sulfur mines, we’ll return to Villamil Port, where you’ll have the opportunity to unwind and enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the beach, soaking up the sun and savoring the tranquil beauty of the Galapagos coastline. It’s the perfect way to conclude your day on this island paradise.

Day 8

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before heading on an exciting excursion to, aptly named Los Túneles (“The Tunnels),” a natural wonder located just an hour from Puerto Villamil. Here, you’ll be enchanted by the mesmerizing underwater stone tunnels, where massive manta rays and graceful turtles glide effortlessly through the crystal-clear waters. Against the backdrop of the majestic Sierra Negra Volcano, you’ll have the opportunity to snorkel alongside Galapagos penguins and colorful tropical fish.
 
Following a delicious lunch, our adventure continues with a hike to the Humedales, the picturesque wetlands of Isabela Island. With a bit of luck, you may catch a glimpse of elegant flamingos wading in the lagoons, their vibrant plumage contrasting beautifully with the serene landscape. As you traverse the terrain, you’ll also encounter lava tunnels that serve as popular haunts for marine iguanas.
 
Our journey then leads us to the “Wall of Tears,” a poignant reminder of the island’s tumultuous past. This towering monument, standing at an impressive 8 meters high and stretching approximately 200 meters long, was constructed in the 1940s by prisoners of a penal colony that inhabited the island from 1946 to 1959.

Day 9

As your exploration and discovery come to an end, it’s time to bid farewell to the extraordinary Galapagos Islands, taking your return inter-island flight back to Baltra airport. Take a moment to savor your last glimpse of these enchanted islands, the unique and wondrous paradise that has captured your heart, as you continue with your return flight to the mainland.
 
Back in Quito, your host will assist as you head to the nearby hotel to rest, with more adventures in store tomorrow.

Day 10

Departing from Quito, our adventure begins with a 30-minute flight over the majestic eastern Andes mountain range to the Amazonian city of Coca, the gateway to your extraordinary rainforest experience.
 
Upon landing, we’ll embark on a unique journey, hopping aboard a local chiva – an open-air bus – for a short drive to the port on the Napo River. Here, we’ll board a comfortably covered motorboat, setting sail on a picturesque two hour journey along the meandering Napo River. As we cruise, indulge in a delicious box lunch while keeping an eye out for the diverse array of aquatic birds that call these waters home, from elegant herons to colorful kingfishers and beyond.
 
Arriving at the Napo Wildlife Center’s welcome area, our adventure continues with a serene and magical two-hour dugout canoe ride along a narrow river, leading us to the tranquil lake where the lodge awaits. Along the way, keep your camera ready as we encounter a myriad of wildlife, from monkeys swinging through the treetops to birds like toucans, parrots, and even vibrant macaws.
 
By the late afternoon, we’ll reach the lodge, where you’ll be warmly welcomed and invited to settle into your comfortable accommodations. After a delicious dinner, prepare for a night of restful slumber, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Amazon jungle.

Day 11

Rise and shine! We will set out early to visit one of Ecuador’s best and most accessible parrot clay licks. Located just an hour from the lodge, we’ll aim to arrive just before the daily parrot activity begins, typically between 7.30 and 8.30am. Here, amidst the breathtaking rainforest backdrop, guests have the opportunity to witness the spectacle of 11 species of parrots, parakeets, and macaws congregating at the lick. While actual sightings may vary depending on weather conditions, these excursions are often richly rewarding.
 
Our journey continues with a scenic hike through the lush forest, following a trail that leads us to the local Kichwa community of Añangu. Here, we’ll have the privilege of spending time with a family, immersing ourselves in their daily activities and gaining insight into their traditional way of life.
 
Following our visit to the community, we return to the river and venture 30 minutes into the terra firme forest until we reach a second parrot clay lick, a site which offers the chance to encounter a different array of parrots, parakeets, and macaws. Enjoy a box lunch here at the parrot clay lick observatory, and as the day draws to a close, we’ll make our way back to the lodge.

Day 12

After an early breakfast, we leave the lodge to experience the unparalleled beauty of the Napo canopy tower. Standing an impressive 36 meters high, this tower offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity of the forest canopy, providing a perspective previously reserved only for the birds.
 
Ascending the 12 floors of the tower, we traverse through different levels of the forest until we emerge atop a magnificent ceiba tree. Here, on a sturdy wooden platform integrated into the tree itself, we are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding canopy. From colorful tanagers flitting through the foliage to Blue-and-yellow macaws soaring overhead, the canopy comes alive with a symphony of birdlife. Nearby, Spider Monkeys swing through the trees in search of ripe fruit, while the distinctive calls of two species of toucans echo through the forest. With each passing moment, the canopy reveals its secrets, offering glimpses of wildlife that are virtually impossible to spot from the forest floor below.
 
Later in the afternoon, we take a hike through the marvelous terra firme forest, delving into the intricacies of the rainforest ecosystem and discovering the vital role of plants in this complex world. Along the way, we encounter towering trees, winding vines, vibrant bromeliads, and delicate orchids, each contributing to the extraordinary biodiversity of this natural paradise.
 
As our hike concludes, we venture to surrounding creeks, where the chance encounter with a Giant Otter family awaits. With luck on our side, we may have the privilege of observing these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat.

Day 13

As the sun rises on our final day in the breathtaking Amazon rainforest, we embark on one last adventure, canoeing back to the Napo River and the tranquil creek, eager for one more opportunity to witness the wonders of the wildlife that call this pristine wilderness home.
 
With the gentle rhythm of our paddles guiding us along the waterways, we keep our eyes peeled for the elusive Giant otters, graceful Monk saki monkeys, vibrant hoatzins, and the black-capped donacobius birds. Each moment can bring new encounters and awe-inspiring sightings, as we bid farewell to this remarkable place.
 
We return by motorized canoe to the town of Coca, where our journey began. Here, we board our flight back to Quito, where your guide awaits to accompany you to the nearby hotel. Reflect on the unforgettable experiences and cherished memories created during your time in Ecuador, as you rest before your international flight home.
